Eat real food: nutrition the Misfit way
By Hunter Wood, Owner & Head Coach
Draft adapted from Hunter's welcome emails, for his review
PlaceholderNutrition is the foundation of your physical and metabolic health. You cannot exercise away a bad diet, and no supplement fixes one either. The good news is that eating well is simpler than the internet wants you to believe.
The prescription
Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar. If you want one shopping rule: stay around the perimeter of the grocery store, where the real food lives. The middle aisles are mostly packaging.
Protein is king
Aim for 30 to 40 grams of protein with every meal, working toward about 1 gram per pound of your bodyweight per day. Most people who think they eat enough protein are off by a lot, which brings us to the next step.
Track it for 14 days
Record what you eat for 14 days. Paper, phone notes, or an app like MyFitnessPal or MacrosFirst all work. Then bring your food log to a coach. Not so we can judge it; so we can actually help. Guessing is the enemy of progress, in the gym and in the kitchen.
Want more structure? We offer nutrition coaching and run at least one nutrition challenge every year. Ask a coach or email us.
